From Pets To People
– Stuart Wolman switched from pets to people when he was recently hired as Vice President of Sales and Services for hair care manufacturer Peter Hantz Company, 1840 E. University in Tempe, AZ.
Before joining Peter Hantz Company, which also owns and operates 19 cosmetology schools in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Florida, Wolman served as Director of Pet Services of Petco in San Diego.
His background includes 13 years of experience in corporate finance, budgeting, forecasting and marketing for the Pet Services division of Petco, as well as the hands-on experience he gained from owning Pet Supply Warehouse in San Diego (which he sold to Petco in 1997).
Wolman’s success includes increasing grooming sales and profits 700% in eight years for Petco, where he still works as a consultant. He also received the small business award by the Small Business Association when he owned and operated Pet Supply Warehouse.
The Philadelphia native graduated from Temple University with a BS in Business before moving to California, followed by his recent move to Arizona.
“My sister, Jessica Wolman, who is one of the owners of Peter Hantz Company, and I talked about how we gravitated to similar fields – hers in the human aspect of hair care and cosmetology education – and mine in grooming services for pets,” said Stu Wolman. “They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but I hope to prove that the beauty business can benefit from a little pet services insight.”
