Lethal force on dogs?
When is it legal to put down a dog? These people let their two dogs just run wild. Most of the time they get into my yard and I have to scoop up my dogs and my cat (who is leash trained). Then we spend all day in the house wondering what the Police are going to do. They have gotten so many tickets. The last round of tickets amounted to $300. I’m thinking of bringing my shotgun out the next time I want to spend time in my yard with my pets. I’m far from someone that wants to hurt animals. But I have a right to enjoy my property and so do my fur babies. They are mean dogs and have killed at least two cats that we know of.
Call the police. Report them every time they’re out running wild.
Call Animal Control. Ask them what your local leash laws are and make sure you know what’s illegal about those dogs’ actions so you can report them every time they violate the law.
Fence your yard. This gives you stronger legal standing against the owner of the dogs, and gives you some protection as it takes a lot more work for the dogs to enter your yard to attack you and your animals.
Learn to be patient.
If you use lethal force, then you are violating the law.
Unless you are licensed to carry, you’ll be arrested for discharge of a firearm in city limits. -!-
